Data Dynamics Reports has rearchitected and redesigned the landmark ActiveReports technology from the ground up, not only to make standard report design and customization easier than ever, but also to add business intelligence (BI) features.
Data Dynamics Reports includes new page- based report designers, new end-user report viewers, and the ability to aggregate dashboards, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), spark lines, and other new visualization elements. Data Dynamics Reports also features true Microsoft Excel transformation, master templates and report styles—and, aside from Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, it’s the only .NET reporting tool that supports and extends Microsoft’s Report Definition Language (RDL) format.
How does Data Dynamics Reports meet Business Reporting requirements?
Microsoft Excel Transformation
Data Dynamics Reports includes a new Excel Transformation Device that makes it possible to analyze numbers using the familiar Excel environment. More than a simple export, the Excel Transformation Device allows users to change their reports into useful Excel spreadsheets and take full advantage of all Excel has to offer. For example, developers can bind data to Excel charts or pivot tables, enabling users to see the display change as they perform what-if analyses.
Microsoft Report Definition (RDL) Reporting Format
Data Dynamics Reports supports Microsoft’s Report Definition Language (RDL) format, enabling developers who work in Microsoft environments to use a reporting format they’re already familiar with. In addition, Data Dynamics Reports extends RDL beyond what SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) supports, adding support for reporting themes, reporting templates, and data visualization.
Dashboards and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Data Dynamics Reports includes built-in dashboard controls. For example, sparklines allow users to see trends while also viewing the primary data display. And bullet graphs give users an instantaneous view of how a KPI or other statistic is currently doing, broken down into two to three ranges and displaying an optional target—all in a space-saving display.
Advanced Data Visualization Components
Data Dynamics Reports includes data visualizers that make it easy to analyze business reports by highlighting key data elements. Color scale maps a numeric value onto a range of colors, reducing the complexity of dealing with a large number of discrete data elements. Icon sets distill information into status flags and corresponding images, based on either absolute or calculated values. Range bars and data bars can be used to visually indicate numbers and number ranges, actual progress vs. planned progress, etc.
Powerful Report Designer Tools
Data Dynamics Reports features a new set of Visual Studio.NET-based report designer tools. The Unified Data Explorer puts common expressions, parameters, data sources, data sets, and embedded images at the developer’s fingertips. The Data Visualizer Editor for image and color makes it simple to construct the data visualizers, complete with a run-time preview. The Visual Studio.NET Designer Control not only functions as a report designer at run time, but can be embedded in WinForms and WPF applications, to provide the same capabilities to the end users.
Reporting Templates
Reporting templates provide report authors with a consistent base layout to work from, as well as common data sources, data sets, report parameters, embedded images, themes, and custom code. Developers use these templates to give end users a set of content and formats they can start with. Report authors working on a suite of reports use them to create a consistent look across the entire suite.
Reporting Themes
Theme support allows report designers to use a standard set of colors, fonts, and images throughout a set of documents—not only creating consistency across documents, but also enabling the look of reports to be updated by changing just one theme file.
Royalty-Free Deployment
Data Dynamics Reports offers flexible, royalty-free deployment to as many users as you want.
Testimonials:
"Data Dynamics Reports allows my clients with diverse interests the ability to visualize and present their findings without custom software or a separate presentation software. The end-user designer feature is paramount to creating a presentation of the end-user defined data. The layout of this presentation is very flexible allowing arbitrary placement of multiple lists of textual, numeric, chart and picture data without complex workaround found in other reporting software."
