ExplorerBarXP Features
Windows XP Themes: ExplorerBarXP supports using Windows Visual Styles technologies, so the control will always match the look and feel of the operating system. It is also the only ExplorerBar control available that properly supports 3rd party Visual Styles (using a product like StyleXP). XP styles are also rendered on earlier operating systems.
Images: ExplorerBarXP allows the use of 32-bit icons and PNG images to display high-quality alpha-blended images in the control. Supported sizes range from 16x16 up to 48x48. These can be added to both the individual items, as well as the group headers. Unlike other controls, ExplorerBarXP allows you to use these alpha-blended images on any OS version, not just XP!
Item Styles: Each item can be either a hyperlink command, a text label, a inline picture, or a placeholder for an embedded control, giving you great flexibility in designing your UI.
Pictures and Colors: All elements of the control can have custom background pictures or colors assigned. Portions of the control even support variable translucency, providing for stunning visuals.
Special Groups and Overlays: Groups can be marked as "special", which gives them a slightly different appearance from the others. To complete the XP emulation, an overlay image can be alpha-blended onto the group background.
Unicode Support: The international market is of growing importance to developers, and you must be able to communicate with them. ExplorerBarXP supports the display of Unicode text to enable your applications to render international language scripts.
Sortable Contents: The contents of the ExplorerBar control can be sorted with a single statement. You can also assign specific positions to individual items to have refined control over the sorting procedure.
Treeview Style Indentations: ExplorerBarXP supports multiple levels of indentation, allowing you to quickly code up an attractive treeview style navigation interface
Embedded Controls: Controls can be embedded directly into the ExplorerBar, making it easy to provide a large amount of functionality in a limited amount of screen space.
Balloon Style Tooltips: Present your user with more information in a balloon style tooltip. Besides looking stylish, you can display multiline text, with a bold title caption, and an icon.
Animation and Effects: The control contents fade in/out when you expand items, and highlighting effects can be applied to icons on mouse hovers.
Fonts: Each individual item can have its own font style set, including the typeface, size, bold, italics, underline, and strike.
Expandable/Collapsible/Closeable Groups: Each group can be expanded or collapsed via a click or in code. Groups can also be hidden using a close button, allowing for substantial runtime customization by the user.
Keyboard Navigation: Full support for keyboard navigation is provided, including arrows, page up/down, etc. An optional focus cue can be shown.
Adjustable Margins: Margins and spacing are adjustable throughout the control, allowing you to better control the amount of screen space that the control requires.
Sounds: System sounds can be played for various control events, or you can specify your own sound files to use.
Size: ExplorerBarXP is a lightweight binary, especially considering the number of features that are integrated.
