The 3-Heights™ PDF Optimization Service is a Windows Service that automatically optimizes fonts, images and redundant information in PDF files. Users can optimize PDF documents simply by "dragging & dropping" them into watched folders. Typical uses of this technology include:
- Reducing file size
- Linearizing PDF files for fast web viewing
- Preparing PDF files for high quality printing

With the 3-Heights™ PDF Optimization Service you can:
- Install a Windows Service Process for optimizing and linearizing PDF files
- Start and stop the service through the Windows services control window
- Control the service through a command line interface
- Configure any number of optimization threads
- Configure a watched folder per thread
- Configure individual optimization and linearization options per watched folder

Available optimization options include the following:
- Optimize PDF for high quality printing
- Linearize PDF for fast web viewing
- Remove redundant objects
- Remove obsolete objects left over from file changes
- Remove embedded fonts to minimize file size (Type1, TrueType and CFF fonts)
- Extract embedded fonts to disk
- Replace embedded fonts
- Strip unnecessary file information
- Analyze the images for their resolution
- Group images into bitonal, monochrome and colour
- Set the compression for an image group (ZIP, JPEG, CCITT)
- Convert image colors to RGB, CMYK or Gray
- Set the desired image resolution in DPI's
- Set the threshold in DPI's to control image downsampling
- Set the compression quality for the lossy methods
- Extract all images for external processing
- Decrypt the input files
- Encrypt the output files with a user and owner password
