What's new in Report Analyzer 3.x

Binary Data: The new version recognizes gif, jpeg, bmp, ico, and png, which permit images to now be included in reports unlike earlier versions where the binary data in images was not supported.

Linked views in grid reports: Users can view and analyze Linked views reports. Linked view report is created in the designer by linking two distinct tables in a database

HTML Sub-views: Users can now view URLs in the Report Analyzer as a sub-view of the main report. Data and links can be either viewed in a separate browser window or as part of the RA application window.

Calendar view: The new feature will enable users to group reports according to set timelines - by Year, Quarter, Month or Week.

Locale specific data rendering: The data in the reports are displayed based on the system locale settings. The reports can also be printed, exported and rendered as per the default system locale settings.

"What's this?" - Help: Gives a quick text description of controls and fields in a dialog. Local help and Online help options are also available.

Computed Columns: A computed column is a column whose value is an expression that can refer to the values of other columns in the same row. Computed columns are especially useful in situations where you want to index a complex expression that may include the values of one or more dependent columns

Suppose, for instance, that your database table has two columns—price and tax percentage. More often than not, though, when it comes to displaying that data, you need to represent the information given by the sum of the price and the applicable taxes. Storing the final price in the database would result in a poor design because you still need price and tax as separate data. On the other hand, the sum of price and taxes is the information your users need. In situations like this one, you might want to resort to a virtual column whose values are not physically stored in the database, but computed when needed.

Drill-down cross chart: With drilldown reports users have the ability to click on a report total to see what numbers make up that total. For example, in a cost summary report, one could click on the SITEWORK cost total to see all the transactions that made up that total. You could repeat this process for other totals if desired.

Conditional Formatting: A functionality to make reports more responsive to users and to call attention to special properties or conditions in the form. It applies formatting to data on reports that changes based upon specific criteria.

Conditional formatting is used to help focus attention on data elements when the importance of the data element may be different from one record to the next.
