3-Heights™ PDF to PDF/A Converter Service 1.60
A Document Conversion Component for
The 3-Heights™ PDF to PDF/A Converter Service is a Windows Service that automatically converts PDFs placed in watched folders (hot folders) to PDF/A-compliant files according to the international standard ISO 19005-1. PDF/A compliant digital signatures can be added to the output PDF/A files.

The 3-Heights™ PDF to PDF/A Converter Servce first analyzes the input PDF file according to the requested conformance level (A or B). Afterwards, the file is converted to the highest possible conformance level, based on the result of the analysis. The output file can then be reanalyzed on request.
The conversion process embeds missing fonts and optimizes them through subsetting. Device dependent color spaces are replaced by predefined ICC color profiles. An output intent will be generated if necessary. Forbidden content (JavaScript etc.) and non-essential content is removed, and mandatory content is added. The file is reformatted during the conversion process and all repairs are carried out where success can be guaranteed.
The following options can be set:
- Default conformance level (A or B)
- ICC profile as replacment for device dependent color spaces
- ICC profile for the output intent
- Path of font files to be embedded
- Password to read encrypted input files
- Control options of the report files
- Control options of the conversion process
- Analysis of the output file
- Details of the digital signature (Windows only)
The tool is also available as an SDK (3-Heights™ PDF to PDF/A Converter API) and as a shell tool that can be executed from the command line (3-Heights™ PDF to PDF/A Converter Shell).
