This differ from POP3 (Post Office Protocol) as it is designed for central access from multiple clients rather than the offline message handling best suited to POP. The IMAPS component is used to communicate with IMAP servers using the IMAP (Internet Message Access) protocol. The IMAPS component is the SSL-enabled equivalent (RFC 2596) of the IP*Works! IMAP component. The main difference is the introduction of a set of new configuration settings, properties and events that deal with SSL security. The SSLProvider configuration setting chooses a security provider subsystem.
