Requirement: How to Generate a PDF document from an editable template

Hi,

I have a requirement to produce a contract which contains static text mixed with data from an application. The output format will be PDF to minimise the chance that the document can be changed once generated.

The static text in the contract will need to change from time to time for regulatory reasons etc and so it would be good if the contract could be derived from an editable template to eliminate the need to rebuild the app whenever the contract needed a minor modification.

Is there an off-the-shelf component that can do this and can anyone provide a code sample illustrating how to generate a PDF document like this?
